I can’t believe I forgot!  If you haven’t noticed…. I really like birthdays.  AND I forgot all about our friend Shakespeare’s day.  However, since the actual day is not noted actually, I guess that’s ok.  The only record found surrounding his birth is the baptismal register of the Holy Trinity parish church, in Stratford, which shows this entry for April 26, 1564: Gulielmus filius Johannes Shakespeare.

He is an amazing genius that weaved words in a way that pulls our hearts strings, and completely made me fall in love with literature…. and I know that I am not the only one that he has impacted in this way.  Celebrate with me the life of William Shakespeare.

Now indulge me a little…. and read my very favorite lines that he penned:

“Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.”
(Sonnet 116)

And, the girl in me loves this scene:  🙂

  1. Those are among my favorite lines of Shakespeare, and of course that scene is stellar. Thanks for posting this!
